Blockdaemon is proud to announce the launch of our Staking API support for Polkadot and Polygon. This simplifies your Polkadot and Polygon staking deployment. With this release, we further connect institutions to the blockchain economy with one single integration. Blockdaemon’s innovative Staking API gives institutions, such as custodians, exchanges, and asset managers, a secure and scalable staking integration for Polkadot and Polygon. It removes many of the challenges that institutions face today when accessing staking. Support for Polkadot and Polygon follows the successful launch of Blockdaemon’s Staking API support for Ethereum and Solana in 2022. Blockdaemon now enables customers to easily and seamlessly add Polkadot staking and reporting functionality to their offerings, as well as Polygon staking. What is the Blockdaemon Staking API for Polkadot & Polygon?

This API streamlines the staking process across the Polkadot and Polygon networks by simplifying staking to a single API call. This supports agnostic transaction signing, using whichever custodian the customer chooses.

How Does the Blockdaemon Staking API Work?

The Staking API is extremely simple to use, and operates in the following way:

  1. Call the Staking API endpoint, specifying the staking parameters for your network of choice
  2. One total transaction is created
  3. The API returns the unsigned transaction, ready for signing with leading custodian

Staking API: Streamlining Institutional Staking

This newest Staking API release lets customers start staking Polkadot and Polygon, securely and reliably. Traditionally, staking requires a lot of manual setup and maintenance time.If a company chooses to run their own validator infrastructure in-house, they will need to handle the following, non-trivial issues:

  • Node Maintenance is Time Consuming: Polkadot and Polygon validator nodes require constant monitoring and uptime. These responsibilities grow exponentially as a company scales their staking services
  • Avoid Polkadot & Polygon Slashing: Slashing is the removal of a percentage of an account’s DOT or MATIC tokens as a penalty for a validator’s poor behavior. This poor behavior might be acting maliciously against the best interests of the network, or incompetence. Slashing exists to incentivize good behavior while discouraging bad behavior by validators. Slashable offenses carry different penalties depending on the severity of the behavior or lack thereof

Outsourcing staking infrastructure allows teams to be efficient and focused on their core business platform. As a business, you can also save developer time that would otherwise be spent on managing node engineering resources.By using the Staking API for Polkadot or Polygon, you immediately benefit from the following:

  • Zero Validator Node Maintenance: Blockdaemon engineers handle all validator node maintenance and updates on your behalf, to provide you with a reliable, expert service
  • Secure Staking: Benefit from Polkadot and Polygon staking that is secure by default. Blockdaemon offers a 100% slashing insurance guarantee for enterprise clients. Blockdaemon is also ISO 27001 certified. Our team of expert engineers ensure your validators are monitored 24/7
  • Faster speed-to-market: Increase your speed to market with Blockdaemon generated transactions. Accelerate access to staking rewards for both you and your clients

Rather than having to worry about infrastructure challenges, Blockdaemon lets you access Polkadot and Polygon staking as a single API service.

Polkadot Staking Reporting API

To complement the Polkadot Staking API, Blockdaemon also offers a Polkadot Staking Reporting API. This API is here to serve your data analysis requirements. The Staking Reporting API removes many of the obstacles you face in accessing staking reward information from the Polkadot protocol. Importantly, you get on-demand Polkadot staking data.

The API queries data from all Polkadot validators on a network. You can get the current or historical stake & rewards allocated to given delegator and validator addresses and other data. Blockdaemon’s Staking Reporting API is aligned with your financial reporting goals. Our goal is to simplify staking and staking reporting. This helps institutions spend less time managing infrastructure and more time focusing on what they do best.
