Incident report

Operational Impact on Solana Validators

Incident update Oct - 27

Between 26 and 27 October 2026, Blockdaemon identified that the operator keys for a small set of our oldest running validators were compromised. This resulted in two things:

  • The attacker was able to change the withdrawal authority on the impacted validators
  • The attacker was able to move a limited number of assets used for validator operations from the validator operational accounts

There has been no indication of any loss or risk to the principal staked on these validators. That remains under full control of the staking wallets.

Because we are unable to fund the voting accounts on the compromised validators, these validators will not be able to generate rewards starting with epoch 1070.

We are actively working with our impacted customers to make sure stakes can be moved to newly created validators as quickly as possible to minimize any gaps in future rewards for our customers.

Your Delegated SOL

Your delegated SOL is safe. Delegated SOL stays in each delegator’s own stake account, and none of it was moved. The impact is limited to the validator’s operational accounts and the protocol rewards they earn.

Next Step

Because this validator must be replaced, and stake changes only take effect at epoch boundaries, we recommend that delegators deactivate their stake from impacted validators as soon as possible and re-stake to new validators.

Please reach out to Blockdaemon support channels if support is required in deactivating, withdrawing and re-delegating your stake.

Please continue to check this page as we will post updates here live as we learn more.
