Announcing Blockdaemon's support for Espresso Proof-of-Stake, offering institutional $ESP staking at launch.

On February 12, Espresso completed its Token Generation Event (TGE). The launch of Espresso Mainnet 1.0 and its transition to Proof-of-Stake will follow shortly.
In advance of the Proof-of-Stake upgrade, the Espresso Foundation has initiated the Espresso Foundation Delegation Program (EFDP). Under this program, a portion of the Foundation’s treasury tokens will be delegated to selected node operators supporting the network at launch. Delegation sizing reflects factors such as ecosystem support, operational contribution, and node responsibilities.
Blockdaemon has been selected to participate in the EFDP and will continue operating infrastructure in support of Espresso’s Proof-of-Stake network.
Upon PoS activation, Blockdaemon will run an archival Data Availability (DA) node, using the same HotShot signing key currently deployed on mainnet, a consensus protocol designed specifically to prioritize the high throughput and fast pre-confirmations that users have come to expect from rollups. This role reflects Blockdaemon’s existing operational involvement with Espresso and experience supporting production-grade distributed systems.
Espresso’s roadmap includes a post-PoS update that will reduce the total number of DA nodes required by the protocol, at which point the Foundation will determine which operators transition to alternative roles such as sequencer nodes. Blockdaemon’s will continue to support Espresso as the network evolves.
With the TGE complete and Mainnet 1.0 Proof-of-Stake activation imminent, Blockdaemon supports institutional $ESP staking from day one.
For institutions interested in delegating $ESP to Blockdaemon under the Espresso Foundation Delegation Program or exploring long-term staking participation, book a call below with our team to learn more about delegation requirements, operational details, and onboarding.
